The 93rd MPEG meeting has been held in Geneva 26-30 July and preceded by several days of ah hoc group meetings on the broad range of issues handled by MPEG. These are some of the most relevant activities

* Start of a new AVC profile called Progressive High Profile
* Publication of Call for Proposals on Composite Font Standard
* Start of a new MPEG-7 Visual profile called AudioVisual Description Profile
* Start of a new MPEG standard called Contract Expression Language
* Start of Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP
* Publication of Unified Speech and Audio Coding CD
* Naming of High-Efficiency Video Coding as MPEG-H
* Start of the Advanced IPTV Terminal (AIT) as part 4 and 5 of the MXM standard, now renamed Multimedia Service Platform Technologies
* Publication of the MPEG-V FDIS for part 1-6
* Successful holding of the MPEG Workshop on Visual Search
* Publication of the Call for Proposals on MPEG Media Transport (MMT)
